The New Group has now announced a 1-week extension for its New York premiere of Good for Otto, written by David Rabe and directed by Scott Elliott, which began previews at the Pershing Square Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre last night and is set to officially open on March 8. The limited engagement is now scheduled to run through to April 8, 2018 (instead of April 1).

Synopsis: "Through the microcosm of a rural Connecticut mental health center, Good for Otto conjures a whole American community on the edge. Like their patients and their families, Dr. Michaels, his colleague Evangeline and the clinic itself teeter between breakdown and survival, wielding dedication and humanity against the cunning, inventive adversary of mental illness, to hold onto the need to fight - and to live. Inspired by a real clinic, David Rabe finds humor and compassion in a raft of richly drawn characters adrift in a society and a system stretched beyond capacity."

The cast of Good for Otto includes Ed Harris (as Dr. Michaels), Amy Madigan (as Evangeline), F. Murray Abraham (as Barnard), Rileigh McDonald (as Frannie), Rhea Perlman (as Nora), and Michael Rabe(as Jimmy), alongside Kate Buddeke (as Jane), Laura Esterman (as Mrs. Garland), Nancy Giles (as Marci), Lily Gladstone (as Denise), Charlotte Hope (as Mom), Mark Linn-Baker (as Timothy), Kenny Mellman (as Jerome), and Maulik Pancholy (as Alex).

The creative team features scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and sound design by Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen.

The New Group's is also currently represented off-Broadway by Jerry Springer - The Opera which began performances at the Pershing Square Signature Center's Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre on January 23 and runs through to March 11, 2018. An official opening is set for tomorrow night, February 22.
