Cast announced for New York Theatre Workshop/WP Theater's Hurricane Diane
Hurricane Diane begins performances at New York Theatre Workshop on February 6, 2019.
Complete casting has now been announced for the upcoming New York Theatre Workshop and WP Theater co-production of Hurricane Diane, which is set to begin previews at New York Theatre Workshop on February 6, 2019, ahead of an official opening on February 24 and a limited engagement through to March 10, 2019.
The cast includes (in alphabetical order) Mia Barron (as Carol Fleischer), Michelle Beck (Renee Shapiro-Epps), Becca Blackwell (as Diane), Danielle Skraastad (as Pam Annunziata), and Kate Wetherhead (as Beth Wann).
Hurricane Diane is written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Madeleine George and directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman.
Synopsis: "Meet Diane, a permaculture gardener dripping with butch charm. She’s got supernatural abilities owing to her true identity—the Greek god Dionysus—and she's returned to the modern world to gather mortal followers and restore the Earth to its natural state. Where better to begin than with four housewives in a suburban New Jersey cul-de-sac? Hurricane Diane is a hilarious evisceration of the blind eye we all turn to climate change and the bacchanalian catharsis that awaits us, even in our own backyards."
The creative team behind Hurricane Diane has also been announced and features original music by The Bengsons, choreography by Raja Feather Kelly, scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Barbara Samuels, and sound design by Bray Poor.
A second co-production (to be staged at WP Theater) will be announced in due course.
