Daniel Craig returns to Broadway in acclaimed director Sam Gold's revival of Macbeth, opposite Ruth Negga as Lady Macbeth, from March 2022 at the Lyceum Theatre

Daniel Craig was born in Chester, United Kingdom, on March 2, 1968. At the age of 16, he was accepted into the prestigious National Youth Theatre and moved to London to pursue acting. He performed on tour with the youth theatre in Valencia and Moscow, then moved on to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to continue his education. Soon after graduating in 1991 he received his first on-screen acting role, a small part in the 1992 film The Power of One. Craig's professional stage debut quickly followed in a 1993 National Theatre revival of Angels in America, in which Craig took on the role of Joe Pitt.

Craig's breakthrough role came on the immensely popular and critically acclaimed television serial Our Friends in the North, which aired on the BBC in 1996. The series followed the lives of four friends from Newcastle upon Tyne over the course of 31 years, tracing political and social changes across the UK through the prism of their friendship. Craig starred alongside Gina McKee, Mark Strong and Christopher Eccleston. 

More film roles followed for Craig, including Elizabeth, Some Voices, Hotel Splendide, and most prominently Tomb Raider as Angelina Jolie's love interest. He also continued to work on stage, appearing in a revival of David Rabe's Hurlyburly on the West End. Craig's film work continued to expand from 2002-2006, with notable supporting roles in Road to PerditionSylvia, Munich, and The Jacket, and acclaimed lead performances in the psychological drama Enduring Love and Layer Cake.

In 2005, Craig was announced to take over the role of James Bond. His casting prompted significant contoversy and fan pushback, but Craig's inaugal Bond outing Casino Royale was ultimately a huge success and received plaudits from fans and critics alike. Craig has since reprised the role in four additional films: Quantum of Solace, SkyfallSpectre and his Bond swansong No Time To Die, and has become universally beloved in the role.

While starring as Bond, Craig continued to pursue a vaied film and theater career outside of the role. On film he appeared in The InvasionThe Golden CompassDefiance, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Dream House, Cowboys & Aliens, Logan Lucky, and Knives Out. On stage, Craig appeared opposite Huge Jackman in a limited Broadway run of Keith Huff's play A Steady Rain at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, opposite his wife Rachel Weisz in a revival of Harold Pinters's Betrayal at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre and opposite David Oyelowo in William Shakespeare's Othello at off-Broadway's New York Theatre Workshop.
