The Shalimar presents You People (Short Plays about Those People) at The Interart from 30 Nov - 16 Dec 2007.

You People (Short Plays about Those People): Six playwrights examine what it means to be 'the other' in America today. The result is an evening that explores the life of outsiders through five short plays and interlocking full scale musical numbers

The plays are:

  • Blanco
    Playwright: Hilly Hicks Jr.,
    Director: Sam Buggeln
    Synopsis: A fantasy about a Latin American woman's American dream.
  • Deseret Desire
    Playwright: Josh Liveright
    Director: Camilo Fontecilla
    Synopsis: A revealing motel room comedy about mismatched lovers.
  • Miss Morely's Revenge
    Playwright: Sharyn Rothstein
    Director: R.J. Tolan
    Synopsis: A twisted take on a corpulent corporate secretary.
  • Splinter
    Playwright: Nastaran Ahmadi
    Director: Jessi D. Hill
    Synopsis: About international would-be lovers.
  • Tostitos
    Playwright: Michael John Garc�s
    Director: May Adrales
    Synopsis: A searing look at middle America teenagers.
  • Songs
    Written by: Tommy Smith and Davide Berardi
    Director: Shoshona Currier and Joey Williamson

The plays are performed by Matt Bridges, Chip Brookes, Blaire Brooks, Devin Dunne Cannon, Barrett Doss, Dawn Evans, Nina Freeman, Edwin Lee Gibson, Jenny Gomez, Kelli Lynn Harrison, Heather Lamb, Lizzie Moore, Andres Munar, Laurie Naughton, Justin Okin, Allison Jill Posner, Charles Semine and Jen Taher.

The creative team features Ariella Beth Bowden (costumes), Lucas Benjaminh Krech (lighting) and Ien DeNio (sound).
