Wolves at the Window at the 59E59's Theater B

The 2009 Brits Off-Broadway festival presents the US premiere of Fledgling Theatre's production of Matt Wilkinson's Wolves at the Window, Toby Davis' adaptation of 10 short stories by Britain's famous Saki, playing at 59E59's Theater B from 10 Nov - 6 Dec 2009.

Wolves at the Window: Discover why you must never tell the truth, marvel at why being nice never pays, and understand the complex rules to getting one over your fellow man. Enter the offbeat world of Saki and his biting tales of immorality. This macabre, acid-soaked world taken from 10 of Saki's deliciously demented short stories drives a knife into upper class Edwardian life.

The play arrives at the Brits Off-Broadway festival following a critically acclaimed run at London's Arcola Theatre. The London Times called it "acidly funny!" and Time Out London said it was "elegantly written (with) excellent comic performances!"

Directed by Thomas Hescott, Wolves at the Window features Jeremy Booth, Gus Brown, Anna Francolini and Sarah Moyle.

Production design is by Maureen Freedman, with lighting by Richard Howell and sound and music by Tim Digby-Bell.

Hector Hugh Munro, better known by the pen name Saki, was a British writer, whose witty and sometimes macabre stories satirized Edwardian society and culture. He is considered a master of the short story and has been compared to O. Henry and Dorothy Parker. He transmitted the traditions of Oscar Wilde and his predecessors to P. G. Wodehouse, Evelyn Waugh and Noel Coward, while he earned the interest of many other writers such as Graham Greene, G. K. Chesterton, and A. A. Milne.
