Wicked: Richard H. Blake to play Fiyero

 

Richard H. Blake is to join the Broadway company of Wicked in the role of 'Fiyero' on 29 Jan 2011, assuming the role from Kyle Dean Massey

Blake's Broadway credits include 'Legally Blonde' (Warner), 'The Wedding Singer' (Glen Guglia), 'Hairspray '(Link), 'Aida '(Radames), 'Saturday Night Fever' (Tony Manero), 'Rent' (Roger), 'Prince of Central Park' (Prince), 'Macbeth' (Boy Macduff) and 'The Sound of Music' (Friedrich).

Blake joins a cast which includes Teal Wicks as 'Elphaba,' Katie Rose Clarke as 'Glinda,' Kathy Fitzgerald as 'Madame Morrible,' P.J. Benjamin as 'The Wizard,' Etai BenShlomo as 'Boq,' Jenny Fellner as 'Nessarose' and Tom Flynn as 'Dr. Dillamond.'

The Broadway musical Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct 2003 and is currently selling tickets through to 15 Jan 2012.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
