When The Rain Stops Falling: Andrew Bovell's play to be directed by David Cromer
Lincoln Center Theater, by arrangement with Jean Doumanian and Freddy DeMann, will produce the American premiere of When The Rain Stops Falling, a new play by Andrew Bovell, directed by David Cromer, opening at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater from 8 Mar 2010, following previews from 11 Feb.
When The Rain Stops Falling is an epic drama, set in England and Australia, that traces a family�s history spanning 80 years.
The play premiered at the Australia�s 2008 Adelaide Festival, was subsequently presented by the Sydney Theater Company and recently produced in London by the Almeida Theatre.
Casting and designers for When The Rain Stops Falling will be announced at a later date.
Australian writer Andrew Bovell is best known for his award winning film 'Lantana' and for co-writing the original screenplay for Baz Luhrmann�s 'Strictly Ballroom.' His play, 'Speaking In Tongues,' was seen at London's Hampstead Theatre in 2000 and toured internationally.
Director David Cromer's work is currently represented in the off-Broadway production of Thornton Wilder�s' Our Town' (in which he also plays the Stage Manager). He is making his Broadway debut later this year directing the upcoming Broadway productions of Neil Simon�s 'Brighton Beach Memoirs' and 'Broadway Bound.' He also directed the off-Broadway productions of 'The Adding Machine: a musical' (2008 Obie Award) and 'Orson�s Shadow' and has directed extensively in Chicago.
