Ulterior Side Dishes, a one-act trilogy: Donovan Ray was a man with a past. While maintaining a staggering body weight of 768 pounds, he revolutionized the world of fine dining, and made a fortune in the restaurant business. Early one morning, after undergoing cosmetic surgery, Donovan Ray was found murdered in his recovery bed. Ulterior Side Dishes is a one-act trilogy that explores the lives of those he left behind.
- Act 1: Bling!
Members of Donovan Ray's inner circle gather on the day of his funeral to say goodbye, and to vilify the woman arrested for his murder. Gabbi Foss , his faithful assistant and accused murderer, is released from police custody just in time to make it to the service. Her presence causes an uproar, and the accusations fly. Boris Maximo is determined to see Gabbi behind bars. Jack Peckhard wants to believe in her innocence, but Gabbi makes a personal confession that turns everyone at the service against her. - Act 2: Sach'Elays
Employees in Donovan's flagship restaurant report for work in the middle of a heavy rainstorm. Abigail Squire is one of Donovan's estate lawyers. When she shares with the staff the details of a clause in the late mogul's will, the result is a twisted tale of competition and sabotage that brings out the worst, and the worst in everybody. A nagging and obnoxious customer doesn't help things one bit� - Act 2: Last Call at the Miracle Grill
we meet the bar's regulars, and the spirit of Donovan Ray. Here the regulars are pushy, violent, and insanely jealous. Donovan is the center of attention of hidden jealousies and must avoid getting his head lopped off by another regular, the quietly dangerous hitman, Khan.
Ulterior Side Dishes, a one-act trilogy' cast, directed by Kim Weston-Moran, features Tom Martone, Kiersten D. Terrell, Ebony Coles, Chrystal Stone, Casandra Kate Escobar, Anthony Harper, Robert Starks, Garrett Lee Hendricks and Tashawn Jackson.
The show has lighting and sound design by Pope.
