Two Thousand Years extends its run by two weeks, now playing through to 22 Mar 2008



The New Group has has announced a two week extension of their American Premiere production of Mike Leigh's Two Thousand Years, now playng through to 22 Mar 2008.

Two Thousand Years opened at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre on 7 Feb 2008, following previews from 15 Jan, and was originally scheduled to closed on 8 Mar 2008.

Two Thousand Years: An assimilated Jewish family's quiet life in suburban London gets turned upside down when their son becomes fiercely dedicated to the Hebrew faith.

The cast, directed by Scott Elliott (New Group's artistic director), featurea Yuval Bolm, David Cale, Laura Esterman, Jordan Gelber, Merwin Goldsmith, Cindy Katz, Natasha Lyonne and Richard Masur.

The play had its world premiere at London's National Theatre where it ran from 10 Sep 2005 - 31 Jan 2006, and again from 25 Mar - 29 Jul 2006.

The New Group has presented several productions of Mike Leigh's plays, all directed by Scott Elliott: 'Goose-Pimples' (1997), 'Smelling a Rat' (2002), 'Abigail's Party' (2005) and 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' (2006).
