Tune into the Supergirl/The Flash musical episode tonight

Just when you thought you had seen the last of singing superheroes (Sorry, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), DC Comics will dip its toes into the realm of musicals, as former "Glee" stars Melissa Benoist (as Supergirl), Grant Gustin (as The Flash) and Darren Criss (as the villainous Music Meister) are set to hit the high notes (and no doubt, a few goons) on The CW tonight.

This special musical crossover episode between the popular DC Comics TV shows of "Supergirl" and "The Flash" was set up in last night's episode of "Supergirl" and tonight's episode promises to be an all-singing and all-dancing, heroic affair. Under the title of "Duet," The Flash and Supergirl will be robbed of their powers by the evil Music Meister and forced to live out a musical.

The original tunes showcased in tonight's episode feature music by Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Rachel Bloom, as well as lyricists Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, who are currently represented on Broadway by the smash hit musical Dear Evan Hansen at the Music Box Theatre and also recently picked up Academy Awards for their writing efforts on the popular movie musical La La Land.

Benoist, Gustin and Criss are not the only cast members with musical and/or Broadway credits to their resumés, and so perhaps the musical crossover was inevitable. The impressive list of triple threat cast members includes John Barrowman, Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber, Carlos Valdes and Jeremy Jordan. In the meantime, why not check out our recent interview with Jeremy Jordan!
