Trip of Love, Broadway bound dance musical has its eyes set on a 2009 Spring opening
Trip of Love, a Broadway bound dance musical inspired by and set to the hit songs of the 1960's, began previews for its world premiere in Osaka, Japan on 4 Apr 2008 at The Theatre Brava!. Created, directed and choreographed by James Walski, the Official International Press Opening is set for 24 May 2008 in Osaka, Japan with an eye towards a spring 2009 broadway production.
Mini-skirts are all the rage. The Beatles are on the top of the charts. Loved ones are fighting overseas. It's 2008 and echoes of the 1960's resonate for a modern audience reliving the turbulance and joyous rebellion of a decade that changed the cultural fabric of a nation.
Through the psychedelic sights and sensational scenes of the era that continue to live on in pop culture, Trip of Love dances from 1960 to 1969 to the beat of the decade's most famous and enduring songs.
Produced by Makoto Deguchi (Blueman Group: Tubes), the production features scenic design by Yomiuri Theater Award winner Shusaku Futamura and James Walski and costume design by Tony Award Winner Gregg Barnes (Legally Blonde, The Drowsy Chaperone). Trip of Love also recieves promotional support from Yokoso! Japan.
The cast, from both Broadway and Japan, feaures Anika Ellis, Austin Miller, David Elder, Kelly Felthous, Joey Calveri, Rachelle Rak, John Berno, Bo Broadwell, Tony Falcon, Ashley Blair Fitzgerald, Koichi Fujiura, Daryl Getman, Kyla Grogan, Saori Kamiya, Reiko Kitami, Satoshi Mitsui, Kristin Piro, Mahri Relin, Yosuke Sato, Kaori Torii, Kei Tsuruharatani and Nicky Venditti.
