Trey Curtis to star in 'Hamilton' on Broadway
The actor has performed in multiple productions of the musical worldwide since 2019 and now replaces current star Miguel Cervantes in the title role.
The world's gonna know his name! Trey Curtis will join the Broadway cast of Hamilton, playing the title role of the long-running musical at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
Curtis has been attached to Hamilton since 2019, having played Alexander Hamilton during a limited engagement in Puerto Rico. He has since performed in the show in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Melbourne, and Manila.
“Joining on Broadway feels serendipitous after my incredible journey with the show,” Curtis said in a statement. “Hamilton is a magical role for me as a musician. If I can make just one person feel the way I felt after watching Lin-Manuel freestyle his Tony’s acceptance speech, then by god, I’ve done a better job than I could’ve ever imagined.”
He replaces Miguel Cervantes, who plays his final performance as Alexander Hamilton on January 7. The current Hamilton cast also includes Jared Dixon as Aaron Burr, Stephanie Jae Park as Eliza Hamilton, Jennie Harney-Fleming as Angelica Schuyler, Bryson Bruce as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Tamar Greene as George Washington, Rubén J. Carbajal as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, Ebrin R. Stanley as James Madison/Hercules Mulligan, Yana Perrault as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, and Jarrod Spector as King George.
Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony- and Pulitzer-winning Hamilton tells the story of founding Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton with rap and hip-hop music, reimagining American history with a modern flair. The show has run on Broadway since 2015 and has since become a global phenomenon.
