Trevor Wayne to star in 'The Outsiders' on Broadway
The actor has been with the production since its opening in spring 2024 and will assume its leading role from Tony Award nominee Brody Grant in September.
Trevor Wayne will star as Ponyboy in The Outsiders on Broadway beginning September 23 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
Wayne made his Broadway debut in the ensemble of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical when it premiered in New York in March 2024. He has remained with the cast since and now replaces Tony nominee Brody Grant, who plays his final performance as Ponyboy on September 21 as previously announced.
Additionally, Brent Comer, who originated the role of Darrel Curtis, will take a leave of absence from September 9 to November 9 for a film project. During this time, Darrel will be played by Dan Berry, while Berry's current role of Paul Holden will be played by Victor Carrillo Tracey.
The current cast also includes Sky Lakota-Lynch as Johnny, Jason Schmidt as Sodapop, Alex Joseph Grayson as Dallas Winston, Emma Pittman as Cherry Valance, Daryl Tofa as Two-Bit Matthews, and Kevin William Paul as Bob Sheldon.
Winner of the 2024 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical for Danya Taymor, The Outsiders is adapted from S. E. Hinton's landmark novel. Ponyboy, a member of the poor teenage gang the Greasers, finds himself swept up in a turf war with the well-off Socs gang while seeking brotherhood and survival among his own peers in a harsh world.
