Too Much, Too Much, Too Many: cast announced
The Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the cast for the next Roundabout Underground production Too Much, Too Much, Too Many, a new play by Meghan Kennedy, directed by Sheryl Kaller, featuring Rebecca Henderson (Off-B'way: 'The Whale'), Luke Kirby (Off-B'way: 'Defender of the Faith'; TV: "Rectify"), James Rebhorn (B'way: 'Prelude to a Kiss,'; Off-B'way: 'Saturn Returns,'; TV: "White Collar") and Phyllis Somerville (B'way: ''night, Mother'; Off:B'way: 'Happiness'; TV: "Big C").
Too Much, Too Much, Too Many will open at The Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center's Black Box Theatre on 20 Nov 2013, following previews from 25 Oct 2013, and play a limited engagement through to 05 Jan 2014.
Too Much, Too Much, Too Many: Following the death of her husband James (James Rebhorn), Rose (Phyllis Somerville) locks herself in her bedroom for the better part of a year, leaving her daughter Emma (Rebecca Henderson) to care for her through the closed door. When the church sends a pastor (Luke Kirby) to help coax Rose out of her room, he soon finds that Rose is not the only one using barriers to hide her true feelings.
The creative team includes Wilson Chin (Set Design), Jess Goldstein (Costume Design), Zach Blane (Lighting Design) and Broken Chord (Original Music & Sound).
Meghan Kennedy's 'The Greenest Month' was a semi-finalist for the 2007 Princess Grace award, a finalist for The 2009 Bay Area Playwrights Festival and received a staged reading at The National Comedy Theatre in New York City. Her play 'Light,' won the 2012 David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize. Her play Too Much, Too Much, Too Many was featured at the 2012 PlayPenn Conference and she was Writer in Residence at the 2012 Cape Cod Theatre Project. Kennedy has had her plays produced in Dublin, Ireland, New York City and Austin, Texas.
Roundabout Underground is an initiative to showcase new plays that will either allow an experienced director to go back to his/her creative roots or give a debut production to an emerging writer or director.
