Tina is officially heading to Broadway in the fall of 2019

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical celebrates the life and career of the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll.

This news is Simply the Best! The West End smash hit bio-musical Tina: The Tina Turner Musical is officially heading to Broadway! Producers Stage Entertainment confirmed today the Broadway premiere is scheduled to open at a yet-to-be-named theatre in the fall of 2019.

Tina Turner commented on the news: "Bringing this musical to life on stage and working with this team has meant so much to me, I feel that it is in many ways a culmination of my career. London audiences have been and continue to be extraordinary. Now, the bright lights of Broadway are calling, and I'm very excited to share this beautiful show with New York audiences next year."

Written by Katori Hall (with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins), who previously made her Broadway debut with The Mountaintop in 2011, and directed by Tony Award nominee Phyllida Lloyd, whose previous Broadway credits include Mamma Mia! and 2009's Mary StuartTina features some of Tina Turner's iconic back catelogue of hits such as "Nutbush City Limits," "River Deep - Mountain High," "Proud Mary," "Private Dancer," "What's Love Got to Do with It?," and many more.

Synopsis: "From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, Tina Turner didn't just break the rules, she rewrote them. This new stage musical, presented in association with Tina Turner herself, reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race."

The production features musical supervision, additional music and arrangements by Nicholas Skilbeck, orchestrations by Ethan Popp, choreography by Anthony van Laast, scenic & costume design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Bruno Poet, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and projection design by Jeff Sugg.

Exact Broadway dates, as well as a theatre and casting information will be released in the coming months.
