Casting has been set for the world premiere of The Trees, a new play taking root at Playwrights Horizons in the spring. Performances run from February 12 to March 19, with opening night on March 5.

Agnes Borinsky's play centers on Sheila and David, two siblings who discover their feet have become rooted in the ground at a public park. An eclectic group of others — including their grandmother, a snack vendor, a rabbi, and more — join them and establish a utopian community amid a volatile world.

The complete cast includes Jess Barbagallo as David, Marcia DeBonis as Sheryl, Crystal Dickinson as Sheila, Sean Donovan as Jared, Xander Fenyes as Ezra, Nile Harris as Julian, Max Gordon Moore as Saul, Pauli Pontrelli as Tavish, Ray Anthony Thomas as Norman, Danusia Trevino as Grandmother, Sam Breslin Wright as Terry/Vendor, and Becky Yamamoto as Charlotte.

The creative team is led by director Tina Satter and also includes set designer Parker Lutz, costume designer Enver Chakartash, lighting designer Thomas Dunn, sound designer Tei Blow, and puppet designer Amanda Villalobos.
