The Shining City: Br�an F. O�Byrne to join cast

Manhattan Theatre Club have announced that Tony Award winner Br�an F. O�Byrne will join Oliver Platt in Conor McPherson�s The Shining City, to be directed by Robert Falls, which will open at the Biltmore Theatre on the 3 May 2006, following previews from the 13 Apr 2006.

Originally produced at London�s Royal Court Theater, The Shining City focuses on John (Oliver Platt), a guilt-ridden man who visits a therapist (Br�an F. O�Byrne) after seeing the ghost of his recently deceased wife. What starts out as an everyday exchange becomes a gripping struggle to survive � a struggle that will change both men for the rest of their lives.

Br�an F. O�Byrne recently starred as Father Flynn in Doubt which originated at Manhattan Theatre Club�s New York City Center � Stage I. For Doubt, O�Byrne received the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards and a Tony nomination. O�Byrne previously received the Tony Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for Frozen. Other theatre credits include The Lonesome West, The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Sisters Rosensweig.

Further details regarding casting and creative team for The Shining City will be announced at a later date.

MTC co-produced Mr. McPherson�s play The Weir, on Broadway in 1999.
