The Producers: Roger Bart returns to the role of Leo Bloom

Roger Bart will reprise his role as 'Leo Bloom' opposite Richard Kind's Max Bialystock from the 3 May - 3 Jul 2005 in Mel Brook's musical The Producers. The role of Leo Bloom is currenly performed by Alan Ruck.

Mr. Bart is currently filming the motion picture version of The Producers performing the role of Carmen Ghia.

The Producers opened on the 19 Apr 2001 at St James Theatre, following previews from the 21 Mar 2001 and is currently booking up to the 11 Dec 2005.

It's the story of a couple of guys who come up with a scheme to produce the outrageous Broadway musical ever. They think they can take off with all their investors' money-but when the curtain goes up on their gigantic singing, dancing spectacular, they realize their plan has gone ridiculously wrong.

The show opened to rave reviews, and went on to win an incredible twelve Tony Awards in 2001, making the show the recipient of the most Tony Awards in theater history.

The Producers also stars Tony Award winner Jonathan Freeman (Roger DeBris), John Treacy Egan (Franz Liebkind), Brooks Ashmanskas (Carmen Ghia) and Angie Schworer (Ulla).

The show has music & Lyrics by Mel Brooks, Book by Mel Brooks & Tom Meehan, and is directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman. It has sets by Robin Wagner, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski and sound by Steve Kennedy

Roger Bart received 1999 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Featured Actor in a Musical as 'Snoopy' in the revival of 'You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown', directed by Michael Mayer. Other Broadway and first national touring credits: 'The Frogs' (Xanthias), 'Triumph of Love' (Harlequin), 'King David', 'How to Succeed in Business� '(Bud Frump), 'The Secret Garden' (Dickon), 'Big River' (Tom Sawyer) and The Who's 'Tommy' (Cousin Kevin in the first national, Germany and London). Off-Broadway: 'Henry IV, Parts I and II,' 'Up Against It' and 'Vampire Lesbians of Sodom'.
