The Other Place: MTC announce full cast
Manhattan Theatre Club have announced the full cast for their upcoming Broadway premiere of Sharr White's The Other Place, directed by Joe Mantello. The thriller opens at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on 10 Jan 2013, following previews from 11 Dec 2012, where it is playing through to 24 Feb 2013.
Joining the previously announced three-time Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Laurie Metcalf as 'Juliana Smithton,' will be Metcalf's daughter Zoe Perry as 'The Woman,' in her Broadway debut. The cast will also feature Daniel Stern ("The Wonder Years," 'Diner') and John Schiappa ('Assassins,' 'Take Me Out').
Laurie Metcalf and John Schiappa are reprising their roles from the show's world premiere off-Broadway production in 2011.
The Other Place: Juliana Smithton is a successful neurologist whose life seems to be coming unhinged. Her husband has filed for divorce, her daughter has eloped with a much older man and her own health is in jeopardy. Nothing is as it seems, and piece by piece a mystery unfolds as fact blurs with fiction, past collides with present and the elusive truth about Juliana boils to the surface.
The creative team features set design by Eugene Lee, costumes by David Zinn, lighting by Justin Townsend and sound by Fitz Patton.
The Other Place had its world premiere in a MCC Theater production which opened at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre on 28 Mar 2011 where it played an extended run, closing on 1 May 2011. The show was nominated for two Outer Critics Circle Awards, a Drama League Award, and three Lucille Lortel Awards. Metcalf won an Obie Award and a Lucille Lortel Award for her performance in the production.
