The Marvelous Wonderettes celebrates its one-year anniversary in New York


The Off-Broadway musical revue, The Marvelous Wonderettes, celebrates its first anniversary on 14 Sep 2009. The show opened at the Westside Theatre (Upstairs) on 14 Sep 2008, following previews from 29 Aug 2008 and is currently selling tickets through to 31 Jan 2010.

The Marvelous Wonderettes, written and directed by Roger Bean, choreographed by Janet Miller, is a journey back to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where the Wonderettes - Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy - are four young girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. Songs include: 'Lollipop,' 'Dream Lover,' 'Stupid Cupid,' 'Lipstick on Your Collar,' 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,' 'It�s My Party' and 'It�s In His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song).

The Marvelous Wonderettes features Misty Cotton (Missy), Lindsay Mendez (Betty Jean ), Kirsten Bracken (Suzy) and Christina DeCicco (Cindy Lou).

The creative team includes Mike Carnahan (sets), Bobby Pearce (costumes), Jeremy Pivnick (lighting) and Cricket S. Myers (sound).

The Marvelous Wonderettes earned an Ovation Award (Best Musical in an Intimate Theatre) and LADCC Awards for best choreography and ensemble in its run at Los Angeles� El Portal Theatre.
