The Marvelous Wonderettes announces complete casting
The upcoming off-Broadway production of The Marvelous Wonderettes has now announced complete casting and creative team.
Wicked alum Laura Woyasz takes on the role of "The Wonderstudy" and joins previously announced cast members Christina Bianco (Missy), Kathy Brier (Suzy), Jenna Leigh Green (Cindy Lou) and Sally Schwab (Betty Jean).
Ms Woyasz has starred as Glinda in both the Broadway and touring companies of 'Wicked,' as well as the title role in the original touring company of 'Thoroughly Modern Millie.' She has previously appeared off-Broadway in 'My Life with Albertine' at Playwrights Horizons.
The Marvelous Wonderettes begins previews at Theatre Row's Kirk Theatre on 30 March 2016, before an official opening on 28 April, and is currently booking through to 4 September 2016.
Synopsis: "Take a musical trip down memory lane to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet The Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! Experience their lives and loves from prom night to their 10 year reunion, as the girls perform such classic 50's and 60's songs as 'Lollipop,' 'Dream Lover,' 'Stupid Cupid,' 'Son of a Preacher Man,' 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,' 'It's My Party,' and more than 20 chart topping hits!"
Originally created, written and directed by Roger Bean, the creative team for this revival features music direction by William Wade, choreography by Alex Ringler, scenic design by Billy Davis, costume design by Tony nominee Bobby Pearce, lighting design by Shawn Boyle, and wig design by Jen Bullock. Tom and Michael D'Angora serve as both producers and directors.
