The Off-Broadway League and the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation have now announced new details for the biggest night in the Off-Broadway calendar: The 35th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards.

The annual ceremony, which celebrates 'Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway,' will now be held as an online event on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 7pm, with further details to be announced shortly. This is, of course, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic that has forced the closures of all Broadway and Off-Broadway theaters.

Terry Byrne, President of the Off-Broadway League commented:"Our desire to recognize and celebrate the excellence of the Off-Broadway season is not diminished by the concerns we are all facing. Indeed, it is essential for our morale to do just that."

Nominations for this year's awards will now be announced on April 14 instead of the previously reported date of April 2. Due to the current circumstances and in an attempt to be as flexible as possible, affected shows that opened after February 16 were offered the option to be considered as part of either the Lortel Awards' 2020 or 2021 season.

Founded in 1986, the Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation and supported by TDF.
