The Lucille Lortel 2011 Award nominations
The League Of Off-broadway Theatres & Producers have announced the nominations for the 26th Annual 2011 Lucille Lortel Awards for outstanding achievement Off-broadway.
The winners of the 2011 Lucille Lortel Awards will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on the 1 May 2011 at NYU Skirball Center. The ceremony will be co-hosted Zach Braff and Samantha Bee.
Samantha Bee began her career by doing commercial campaigns, as well as participating in the all-female sketch troupe "The Atomic Fireballs." In 2003 she joined the cast of "The Daily Show with John Stewart." In addition to her work on "The Daily Show", Bee can be seen opposite her husband, Jason Jones in the film"Cooper's Camera", and in the films "Furry Vengance" opposite Brendan Fraser and in 20th Century Fox's "Date Night" opposite Steve Carell and Tina Fey. Samantha's first book "I Know I Am But What Are You" was released in paperback by Simon & Schuster in 2011, and she has a recurring role on the new season of HBO's "Bored to Death."
Zach Braff is an actor, writer and director. He made his writing and directorial debut with the film "Garden State," in which he also starred. Braff can be seen this Spring in Tribeca Films "The High Cost of Living" for director Deborah Chow. Braff stage experience includes the Second Stage Theatre's production of 'Trust' in 2010. This summer his first original play 'All New Play' will debut at The Second Stage Theatre. He was also seen in New York City's Public Theater productions of 'Twelfth Night' and 'Macbeth' with Alec Baldwin and Angela Bassett. As an actor, Braff was nominated for a 2005 Primetime Emmy Award and a 2005, 2006 and 2007 Golden Globe award for his portrayal of "Dr. John 'J.D.' Dorian" in NBC's comedy "Scrubs." His filmography includes roles in "The Last Kiss," "The Ex," "The Broken Hearts Club," "Getting to Know You" and "Manhattan Murder Mystery" in which he plays Woody Allen and Diane Keaton's son.
'Other Desert Cities' and 'This Wide Night' lead the pack with 5 nominations each.
Two special awards will also be presented at the ceremony:

The 2011 Lucille Lortel Awards voting committee is appointed by the League of Off-Broadway Theatres & Producers, the Lucille Lortel Foundation, Actors' Equity Association, and the Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers, and includes journalists, educators, and members of the Off-Broadway community.
Awarded since 1986, the Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Foundation. Additional support is provided by Theatre Development Fund.
