The Landing: Vineyard announces further cast
Julia Murney (Wicked) and Paul Anthony Stewart (The People in the Picture) will join the previously announced David Hyde Pierce (Curtains, "Frasier") in the Vineyard Theatre's Developmental Lab production of the musical The Landing, by John Kander and Greg Pierce.
The Landing will now be directed by Walter Bobbie, and not Scott Ellis as previously reported.
The musical, which press notes describe has "a beautiful and haunting musical, comprised of three distinct and gripping stories," is the first collaborated work by composer John Kander since the death of his writing partner Fred Ebb in 2004.
The legendary collaboration of John Kander and Fred Ebb over four decades resulted in some of the most beloved and enduring musicals in theatre history: from 'Flora, The Red Menace' to 'Cabaret' (Tony Award), 'Zorba', 'Chicago' and 'Woman of the Year' (Tony Award); to 'Kiss of the Spider Woman,' (Tony Award), 'Curtains,' 'The Visit' and 'All About Us.'
In 2010 the Vineyard presented 'The Scottsboro Boys' one of the last collaborations between the writing duo.
Greg Pierce's (librettist and lyricist) new play 'Slowgirl" is to be presented at the Lincoln Center in June this year. Pierce's other plays include 'The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle,' 'Fellow Travelers,' 'Kick Stop,' 'The Rules of Fetch' and 'The Suburbanoids.'
The Vineyard's Lab program presents developmental productions designed to give artists and Vineyard members the chance to experience the birth of a new work together.
