Matthew Spangler has adapted Hosseini's The Kite Runner novel for the stage, and his adaptation previously played for two theatre seasons in London's West End. The play begins during Amir's childhood in Afghanistan, when a terrible incident is about to tear him apart from his best friend for good. Decades later, Amir is living in America and learns of a way he can make up for what he did to his friend all those years ago, so he ventures back into war-torn Afghanistan for a chance at redemption.
