The Front Page announces complete cast and theatre
Producer Scott Rudin has now announced complete casting for the upcoming Broadway revival of Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's 1928 comedy The Front Page, directed by Jack O'Brien, which begins previews at the Broadhurst Theatre on 20 September 2016, before an official opening on 20 October and a limited engagement through to 5 February 2017.
Joining the already star-studded previously announced cast of The Front Page, which includes Nathan Lane (Walter Burns), John Slattery (Hildy Johnson), John Goodman (Sheriff Hartman), Jefferson Mays (Bensinger), and Sherie Rene Scott (Mollie Malloy), will be Holland Taylor (Mrs. Grant), Robert Morse (Mr. Pincus), Dylan Baker (McCue), Patricia Conolly (Jennie), Halley Feiffer (Peggy Grant), Dann Florek (The Mayor), John Magaro (Earl Williams), Danny Mastrogiorgio (Diamond Louis), Christopher McDonald (Murphy), David Pittu (Schwartz), Joey Slotnick (Wilson), Lewis J. Stadlen (Endicott), Micah Stock (Woodenshoes Eichorn) and Clarke Thorell (Kruger).
Holland Taylor replaces previously announced Rosemary Harris as Mrs. Grant.
Synopsis: "The press room of Chicago's Criminal Courts Building is buzzing with reporters covering the story of an escaped prisoner. When star reporter Hildy Johnson (Slattery) accidentally discovers the runaway convict, he and his editor Walter Burns (Lane) conspire to hide the man from the other reporters, while they chase the biggest scoop of their careers."
The creative team behind The Front Page features scenic design by Douglas Schmidt, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and sound by Scott Lehrer.
The Front Page is produced on Broadway by Scott Rudin.
The Front Page originally premiered at Broadway's Times Square Theatre in 14 August 1928. The production was staged by George S. Kaufman. There has since been a total of three revivals - in 1946, 1969 and 1986.
