The Roundabout Theatre Company have announced the full cast for their production of The Foreigner which will open at the Laura Pels Theatre on 7 Nov 2004, following previews from 15 Oct 2004. This is a limited engagement through to 2 Jan 2005 Cast: Matthew Broderick, Frances Sternhagen, Kevin Cahoon, Mary Catherine Garrison, Neal Huff, Byron Jennings, Lee Tergesen Directed by Scott Schwartz, the design team includes set by Anna Louizos, costumes by David Murin, and lighting by Pat Collins. Matthew Broderick returns to the New York stage after recently completing a return engagement in Mel Brooks The Producers,. Starring in the title role, Broderick portrays Charlie Baker, a socially phobic Englishman marooned at a Georgia fishing lodge where he poses as a foreigner who speaks no English Frances Sternhagen, currently starring in 'The Echoes of War' Off-Broadway, co-stars as Betty Meeks, the eccentric widowed proprietor of the Georgia lodge where Charlie vacations. The Foreigner tells the farcical tale of a lovable but socially inept Brit who escapes his stressful life by booking a holiday in backwoods U.S.A. He desperately tries to avoid the local yokels by posing as a foreigner who doesnt understand a word of English. But the plan backfires when he becomes the perfect person with whom all share their deepest secrets and schemes.
