The Extinction Method replaces Carla's Sister

Manhattan Theatre Club will present the world premiere of The Extinction Method, the new play by Daniel Goldfarb (Sarah, Sarah; Modern Orthodox) directed by Tony Award nominee Sam Buntrock (Sunday in the Park with George).

The limited engagement of The Extinction Method will open at NY City Center Stage I on 25 May 2011, following previews from 10 May 2011.

The Extinction Method replaces the postponed engagement of Alfred Uhry's 'Carl's sister' - which had been announced for MTC's 2010-2011 season.

In The Extinction Method Annie and Nate have a baby who won't sleep. Claire and Luke are losing sleep over the decision to get married and start a family. In adjacent Brooklyn Heights apartments, Daniel Goldfarb's look at love, sex, commitment and parenthood unfolds and no one will rest until the truth between each of these couples is spoken.

Casting, creative team, and ticketing information for The Extinction Method will be announced in the coming weeks.

Daniel Goldfarb (playwright) returns to MTC following 'Sarah, Sarah' which played at New York City Center in 2004. His other credits include 'Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me,' 'The Retributionists' and 'Modern Orthodox.'

Sam Buntrock directed the 2008 revival of Sunday in the Park with George for which he received Tony and Olivier Award nominations for Best Director. His other UK directing credits include: 'Cradle to Rave,' 'God Collar,' 'Take Flight' and the first London revival of 'Assassins.'
