The North American premiere of The Effect, written by Lucy Prebble and directed by David Cromer, which began previews at off-Broadway's Barrow Street Theatre on 2 March 2016, before an official opening on 16 March, has now extended its limited engagement through to 4 September 2016. It was originally scheduled to play its final performance on 22 May 2016.

Synopsis: "Hearts racing. Minds reeling. Knees buckling. Connie and Tristan have palpable chemistry—or is it a side effect of a new super-antidepressant? They are volunteers in a clinical trial, but their sudden and illicit romance forces the supervising doctors to face off over the ethical consequences of their work."

The cast of The Effect includes Kati Brazda, Susannah Flood, Carter Hudson and Steve Key.

The creative team has also been announced and features scenic design by Marsha Ginsberg, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, sound design by Erik T. Lawson, original composition by Daniel Kluger, projection design by Maya Ciarrocchi, and fight direction by J. David Brimmer.

The Effect is produced off-Broadway by The National Theatre of Great Britain's North American wing in collaboration with Barrow Street Theatre and Jean Doumanian Productions.
