The Caucasian Chalk Circle extends by 2 weeks

Classic Stage Company's revival of Bertolt Brecht,'s The Caucasian Chalk Circle, translated by James and Tania Stern, extends its run by two weeks and will now play through to 23 Jun 2013.

The revival began previews at the Classic Stage Company on 03 May 2013, where it will open on 30 May 2013. The show was originally scheduled to close on 09 Jun 2013.

During the show's extension weeks comedic actress Lea DeLaria will succeed Mary Testa, who has a previously scheduled conflict, as the 'Governor's Wife.'

The Caucasian Chalk Circle: Grusche, a young servant girl, sacrifices everything to protect a child abandoned in the heat of civil war. When order is restored, Grusche is made to confront the boy's biological mother in a legal contest over who deserves to keep him. Brecht's playful parable calls into question our basic assumptions of right in a world that has gone wrong.

Directed by CSC's Artistic Director Brian Kulick, who last season directed F. Murray Abraham in the company's revival of Brecht's 'Galileo,' The Caucasian Chalk Circle stars Christopher Lloyd (Azdak), Elizabeth A. Davis (Grusha) and Mary Testa (Governor's Wife).

The cast also features Jason Babinsky (Yusek), Alex Hurt (Simon), Tom Riis Farrell (The Corporal/Shuva/Fat Prince) and Deb Radloff (Farmer's Wife/Aniko).

The creative team features set design by Tony Straiges, costumes by Anita Yavich, lighting by Justin Townsend and sound design by Matt Kraus.
