The Caucasian Chalk Circle: Christopher Lloyd to star
Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) will star as 'Azdak' in the Classic Stage Company (CSC) revival of Bertolt Brecht,'s The Caucasian Chalk Circle, translated by James and Tania Stern, playing at the CSC from 2 May 2013.
The Caucasian Chalk Circle: Grusche, a young servant girl, sacrifices everything to protect a child abandoned in the heat of civil war. When order is restored, Grusche is made to confront the boy's biological mother in a legal contest over who deserves to keep him. Brecht's playful parable calls into question our basic assumptions of right in a world that has gone wrong.
The play will be helmed by CSC's Artistic Director Brian Kulick, who last season directed F. Murray Abraham in the company's revival of Brecht's 'Galileo.'
Additonal casting and creative team for The Caucasian Chalk Circle will be announced at a late date.
Lloyd's best-known film roles are "Emmett 'Doc' Brown" in the "Back to the Future" trilogy, "Uncle Fester" in "The Addams Family" and its sequel "Addams Family Values," and "Judge Doom" in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." His TV credits include: "Stacked," "Clubhouse," "I Dream," "Deadly Games," "Back to the Future" and playing " Reverend Jim Ignatowski" in "Taxi." On Broadway he has appeared in 'Morning's at Seven,' 'Happy End' and 'Red, White and Maddox.'
