The Brothers Size at the Public's Shiva Theater
The Public Theater presents the world premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraneys new play The Brothers Size, produced in association with The Foundry Theatre who brought The Brothers Size to The Publics 2007 Under the Radar Festival earlier this year where it was the breakout hit of the festival.
The play opens at the Public's Shiva Theater on 6 Nov 2007, following previews from 23 Oct 2007 and running through to 23 Dec 2007.
Tarell Alvin McCraney is one of the most exciting and distinctive young playwrights to have emerged in many years, said Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis. We are proud to offer his work to the world and delighted to be continuing an association we expect will last for many years to come.
The Brothers Size: Playing fast and loose with West African myths, the play brings contemporary rhythms together with traditions of ceremonial presentation to tell the modern-day story of the Size brothers Ogun, an auto mechanic, and Oshoosi, a recent parolee.
Directed by Tea Alagic, The Brothers Size features Brian Tyree Henry (Oshoosi), Gilbert Owuor (Ogun) and Elliot Villar (Elegba).
