After the play's Broadway revival in 2018, the cast of The Boys in the Band star in the Netflix film adaptation, which is available to watch from today. Directed by Ryan Murphy, the star-studded drama marks the play's first film revival in 50 years.

Based on Mart Crowley's play of the same name, The Boys in the Band follows a group of gay friends as they come together for a birthday celebration. As a surprise guest turns up unannounced, secrets and truths are revealed to one another.

The entire cast of the 2018 revival of The Boys in the Band reprise their performances for the film. Jim Parsons plays Michael, previously seen on Broadway in The Normal Heart. Zachary Quinto plays Harold, whose Broadway credits include The Glass Menagerie, joined by Andrew Rannells as Larry, who originated the role of Elder Price in The Book of Mormon.

Casting is completed by Matt Bomer as Donald, Charlie Carver as Cowboy, Robin de Jesús as Emory, Brian Hutchison as Alan, Michael Benjamin Washington as Bernard and Tuc Watkins as Hank.

Ryan Murphy directs The Boys in the Band for Netflix, whose previous directorial credits include Glee, Hollywood and American Horror Story. He's also directed the film adaptation of The Prom, which will be available to watch on Netflix from December 11.

The Boys in the Band ran at the Booth Theatre from Apr. 30 - Aug. 11, 2018. The production won best revival of a play at the 2019 Tony Awards.

An initial trailer for the film was released earlier this month. The trailer is available to watch below.
