Summary
- The Black Mirror Experience will run at The Shed from June 20 to September 6
- The show puts attendees at the center of an original tech-focused story inspired by the world of the Netflix series
- The production is a hybrid experience that incorporates live and virtual-reality elements
The Black Mirror Experience, a new immersive production, will play a limited run in NYC at The Shed this summer, taking place from June 20 to September 6 only.
The production brings to life a new story inspired by the world of Netflix's Black Mirror, the nine-time Emmy-winning dystopian sci-fi TV series created by Charlie Brooker. Groups of up to six will step into the exclusive opening of Phaethon's showroom, where the tech giant will unveil a robot called LifeAgent. Designed to simplify, understand, and even improve your life, the invention seems perfect — until it doesn't.
The Black Mirror Experience is a physical/digital hybrid production that blends the physical space of The Shed with free-roaming virtual reality technology, making audiences into the story's protagonists as they make their way around the space.
The show is presented by Banijay Live Studio, part of Banijay Live, in partnership with local producer, LETSGO, and ticket partner, Leap Event Technology, and produced in partnership with the VR studio Univrse.
"What excited us was the tension between the familiar and the uncanny; the feeling that the world you're stepping into could be just one decision away," said David Bardos, co-founder of Univrse. "That's what Black Mirror has always done, and we built the experience to live inside that feeling."
"Since its inception, Black Mirror has explored the intersection between humanity and technology, shaping how we see ourselves and one another in our modern age,” said Alex Poots, The Shed's artistic director. “At The Shed, the U.S. premiere will bring audiences closer to the drama in innovative and intimate ways."
The Black Mirror Experience has already received a Special Mention in the Immersive Competition of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it was unveiled ahead of its Canadian, European, and U.S. premieres this summer.
