'The Ark' closed the 20 Nov 2005

The Ark closed suddenly on Sun 20 Nov 2005. The show opened at 37 Arts' Theater B on the 14 Nov 2005, following previews from the 14 Oct 2005. The Musical played 36 previews and 8 regular performances. There has been no information provided for the sudden closure of the musical.

The production had troubles in casting it's main character Noah. The role was to have been originally played by Paul Harmon who left due to scheduling conflicts, then it was announced early in September that David Hess would play the role, only for Adrian Zmed to assume the role a week before previews.

Directed and choreographed by Ray Roderick, the musical also featured Marie-France Arcilla (Martha), Justin Brill (Shem), D.B Bonds (Ham), Annie Golden (Eliza), Jacqueline Piro (Sariah), Jenelle Lynn Randall (Egyptus), Rob Sutton (Jepheth), Julie Foldesi, and Chuck Ragsdale.

The Ark is a new musical that takes a fresh, contemporary look at the classic story of Noah by showing us the backstory of his family. Living inside the now infamous floating community to escape a drowning world, we see that when facing the challenges of life, were all in the same boat.

Michael McLean said of the musical "Our goal in writing The Ark was to explore the story of Noah in a unique and entertaining way. With music that ranges from pop to gospel, audiences will certainly relate to how Noah and his family overcome challenges. Living in the craziness of today's world, we see that this ancient story is now more relevant than ever."

The design team for The Ark included Beowulf Boritt (Scenic Design), Lisa Zinni (Costume Design), Eric Haugan (Lighting Design) and Ryan Powers (Sound Design).

The musical was being produced by Erik Orton and Karen Walter Goodwin

Adrian Zmed and Annie Golden
