'The Ark:'Adrian Zmed becomes the musical's third Noah
The Ark, a new musical which began previews on the 14 Oct 2005 at 37 Arts' Theater B, now has its third Noah. A week before the show went into previews Adrian Zmed assumed the role.
The role of Noah was originally to be played by Paul Harmon who left due to scheduling conflicts, then it was announced early in September that David Hess would play the role. There has been no information as to why David Hess is no longer involved with the musical.
The Ark will open at 37 ARTS Theatre on the 14 Nov 2005.
Adrian Zmed's previous credits include: Adam/Noah in the world premiere of Steven Schwartz's Children of Eden at The Papermill Playhouse.
Directed and choreographed by Ray Roderick, the musical also features Marie-France Arcilla (Martha), Justin Brill (Shem), D.B Bonds (Ham), Annie Golden (Eliza), Jacqueline Piro (Sariah), Jenelle Lynn Randall (Egyptus), Rob Sutton (Jepheth), Julie Foldesi, and Chuck Ragsdale.
The Ark is a new musical that takes a fresh, contemporary look at the classic story of Noah by showing us the backstory of his family. Living inside the now infamous floating community to escape a drowning world, we see that when facing the challenges of life, were all in the same boat.
Michael McLean says of the musical "Our goal in writing The Ark was to explore the story of Noah in a unique and entertaining way. With music that ranges from pop to gospel, audiences will certainly relate to how Noah and his family overcome challenges. Living in the craziness of today's world, we see that this ancient story is now more relevant than ever."
The design team for The Ark is Beowulf Boritt (Scenic Design), Lisa Zinni (Costume Design), Eric Haugan (Lighting Design) and Ryan Powers (Sound Design).
The musical is being produced by Erik Orton and Karen Walter Goodwin
