The 58th Outer Critics Circle Awards: Nominations to be announced on 21 Apr
Nominations for the 58th Outer Critics Circle Awards will be announced on 21 Apr 2008 by Sandy Duncan and Karen Ziemba at the historic Algonquin Hotel. Outer Critics Circle will post award nominations in 23 categories and are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season.
Soon to star in the Encores production of No, No, Nanette, Sandy Duncan was last seen on Broadway in 1999 as merry murderess Roxie Hart in Chicago. She won an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Drama Desk Award for 'The Boy Friend' in 1971 and was nominated for a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for 'Peter Pan' in 1980. Her other Broadway credits include 'Canterbury Tales' (1969), Love Is a Time of Day (1969) and 'My One and Only' (1983).
Karen Ziemba currently stars as 'Georgia Hendricks' in Curtains, for which she received an Outer Critics Circle Award and was honored with both a Drama Desk Award and Tony Award nomination last year. In 2000, she won the Drama Desk Award and Tony Award for her role in 'Contact'. Her other Broadway credits include: 'A Chorus Line' (1975), '42nd Street' (1980), 'Teddy & Alice', (1987), 'Crazy For You' (1992), Chicago, 'Steel Pier' (1997) and 'Never Gonna Dance' (2003) for which she also won an Outer Critics Circle Award.
The winners of the 58th Outer Critics Circle Awards will be revealed on 12 May 2008. The award ceremony will take place at Sardi's Restaurant on 22 May 2008.
Celebrating its 58th season of bestowing awards of excellence in the field of theater, the Outer Critics Circle is an association with members affiliated with more than ninety newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, and theatre publications in America and abroad.
