Steven Pasquale, Conrad Ricamora, Tala Ashe, more featured in Classic Stage Company's 2026-27 season

The Off-Broadway theatre company will present three productions between October 2026 and May 2027, including two plays with music and a New York-premiere musical.

Classic Stage Company has named its 2026-27 Off-Broadway season, including three shows to be performed at the company's home on 13th Street.

Clifford Odets’ Waiting for Lefty will kick off the season in October 2026. Actor Steven Pasquale makes his directing debut with this revival of Odets's 1955 play about Depression-era NYC taxi drivers planning a labor strike, involving the audience as the theatre transforms into a union hall.

This production features original music and arrangements by Yeller Tooth (Sahar Milani and Cameron Scoggins) and a cast including Tony Award nominee Tala Ashe (English), Raffi Barsoumian (CSC’s Macbeth), Greg Hildreth (I Can Get It For You Wholesale, The Queen of Versailles), and Tony nominee Conrad Ricamora (Oh, Mary!; Here Lies Love), with additional casting to be announced.

Next is the New York premiere of the musical Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean in February 2027. Adapted from Ed Graczyk's 1976 play that also became a 1982 film, the musical unfolds at a meeting of the "Disciples of James Dean" fan club, who gather to mark the 20th anniversary of Dean's death.

The musical adaptation has a book and original concept by Ashley Robinson, music by Dan Gillespie Sells, lyrics by Shakina, choreography by Nancy Renee Braun, and direction by Giovanna Sardelli.

Finally, in May 2027, is Wonder! A Woman Keeps a Secret, a farce about a heist aboard the a luxury ocean liner, featuring characters like a greedy matriarch, a lonely maid, and a lascivious detective. Pulitzer Prize finalist Talene Monahon (Meet the Cartozians) adapts Susanna Centlivre's 1714 play The Wonder: A Woman Keeps a Secret and sets the action in 2027.

The show will also feature an original song by KPop Demon Hunters Oscar winner Mark Sonnenblick.

Additional cast and creative team for all the above productions, as well as exact run dates, have yet to be announced.

CSC will also continue its Rediscovery Readings series this season, with three readings of late-20th-century plays that still resonate today.
