Springsteen on Broadway debuts at Walter Kerr tonight

The Rock n Roll Hall of Famer officially makes his Broadway debut.

20-time Grammy Award-winning Rock 'n' Roll legend Bruce Springsteen makes his Broadway debut at the Walter Kerr Theatre tonight in Springsteen on Broadway.

Originally scheduled to end its limited engagement on November 26, 2017, Springsteen on Broadway was then extended through to February 3, 2018. An official opening is set for October 12.

Springsteen on Broadway is billed as "a solo acoustic performance written and performed by Bruce Springsteen under the lights of Broadway. It is an intimate night with Bruce, his guitar, a piano, and his stories."

Mr. Springsteen previously released the following statement:

"I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind. In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I've played in the last 40 years. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work. All of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value."

The creative team behind Springsteen on Broadway features scenic design by Heather Wolensky, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and sound design by Brian Ronan.

Bruce Springsteen's career as a musician has spanned over 40 years. In that time, he has won a grand total of 20 Grammy Awards, and was even awarded an Oscar and a Golden Globe in 1994 for "Streets of Philadelphia" in the category of "Best Original Song" for the film "Philadelphia." He also earned an Oscar nomination in 1996 for "Dead Man Walkin'" and a Golden Globe nomination in 2009 for "The Wrestler." He has released 18 studio albums to date and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1999.
