Sons of the Prophet extends run to 1 Jan 2012
The Roundabout Theare Company's New York premiere of Stephen Karam's new play, Sons of the Prophet, extends its run by one week and will now play through to 1 Jan 2012.
Sons of the Prophet opened at the Laura Pels Theatre on 20 Oct 2011, following previews from 28 Sep 2011, and was originally scheduled to close on 23 Dec 2011.
The comedy opened to mostly excellent reviews: Absolutely wonderful new comedy-drama (NY Times); Darkly funny and deeply touching (NY Daily News); A series of dreary, disconnected scenes (The Record).
The Roundabout has also announced a second commission for playwright Stephen Karam following his critically acclaimed first commission of Sons of the Prophet.
In Sons of the Prophet, a Lebanese family in PA is in crisis. But as they deal with crazy bosses, medical mysteries, and the end of the family line, they never lose their unbreakable sense of humor.
Directed by Peter DuBois, Sons of the Prophet stars Joanna Gleason (Gloria), Yusef Bulos (Bill), Jonathan Louis Dent (Vin), Santino Fontana (Joseph), Lizbeth Mackay (Mrs. McAndrew), Dee Nelson (Dr. Manor), Chris Perfetti (Charles) and Charles Socarides (Timothy).
The design team includes Anna Louizos (set), Bobby Frederick Tilley, II (costume), Japhy Weideman (lighting) and M.L. Dogg (sound).
Sons of the Prophet was commissioned by Roundabout Theatre Company, and is produced in association with Huntington Theatre Company where it recently had its world premiere.
Sons of the Prophet was commissioned by Roundabout Theatre Company, following Karem's New York debut with 'Speech & Debate' in 2007 at Roundabout Underground. That successful production of 'Speech & Debate' not only launched the Roundabout Underground program, it also went on to play in over 100 theaters in the United States and Canada.
