Slammer, a new musical at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts


New Gate Productions presents Slammer, book, music & lyrics by Steve Adams and Chan Chandler, at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU from 20 - 25 Aug 2007, as part of FringeNYC.

Slammer: Tabitha, a sheltered and naive girl is wrongfully thrown into a women's prison for a drug deal she did not commit. There she must learn to survive through her wits as she deals with two rival gangs of inmates as well as the evil Warden Eva Danka and Smiley, the predatory prison guard. Discovering her inner strength, Tabitha gains power and stature with the inmates until finally she leads them in revolt

Directed by Rod Caspers and choreographed by Ann Presley, Slammer features Saverio Guerra (Smiley the Screw), Sandra Reaves-Phillips (Reverend Mama), Merrill Grant (Tabitha), Tammi Cubilette, Tess Paras, Ariela Morgenstern, Courtney Wissinger, Lannyl Stephens, Ben Nowell, Heather Adair, Gisela Adisa and Juson Williams.

The design team comprises Kim Chandler (sets), Jacob Climer (Costumes, Casey McClellan (lighting) and Thomas Bergeron (sound).
