Shakespeare in the Park's A Midsummer Night's Dream announces casting
The Public Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, which is the second, and final production, of this year's summer�s Shakespeare in the Park, has announced casting.
Directed by Daniel Sullivan, the principle cast features Jason Antoon (Snout), Keith David (Oberon), Mireille Enos (Hermia), John Michael Hill (Puck), Austin Lysy (Lysander), Tim Blake Nelson (Quince), Daniel Oreskes (Theseus), Missi Pyle (Helena), Laila Robins (Titania), Jay O. Sanders (Bottom) and Elliot Villar (Demetrius).
Daniel Sullivan most recently directed David Hare's 'Stuff Happens' at The Public Theater. His last directorial effort for Shakespeare in the Park was Merry Wives of Windsor in 1994. Sullivan won the 2001 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for Proof (2000). His Broadway credits include: Prelude to a Kiss (2007 revival), Rabbit Hole (2006), Julius Caesar (2005 revival) and Brooklyn Boy (2005), to name but a few.
A Midsummer Night's Dream was last staged at the Delacorte stage in 1991, directed by Caca Rosset.
Shakespeare in the Park is a free event organised each year by the Public Theater in which they present two of Shakespeare's plays at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park.
This year The Public has extended the run of the two Shakespeare in the Park productions from four to five weeks.
