Seminar: Jerry O’Connell to make B'way debut
Film and television star Jerry O'Connell will star as 'Douglas' in the World Premiere of Theresa Rebeck's comedy Seminar, directed by Sam Gold in his Broadway debut.
O'Connell joins the previously announced Alan Rickman, who stars as 'Leonard', along with Lily Rabe (Kate) and Hamish Linklater (Martin).
Completing the cast is actress Hettienne Park (Izzy).
Jerry O'Connell, who is making his Broadway debut, is best known for his roles in such TV series as: "The Defenders," "Crossing Jordan," "My Secret Identity" and "Sliders," as well as for his work in movies, such as "Crossing Jordan," "Jerry Maguire," "My Secret Identity" and "Stand By Me."
Hettienne Park, who is making her Broadway debut appeared Off-Broadway last season in Tony Kushner's 'The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures' at The Public. Her film and television work includes "Bride Wars," "Year of the Fish," "Never Forever," the upcoming "Young Adult" with Charlize Theron, "Mercy," "The Good Wife" and "Damages."
Seminar will open on Broadway at the John Golden Theatre on 20 Nov 2011, following previews from 27 Oct 2011.
In Seminar, four young writers are thrilled to be participating in a private seminar taught by the brilliant but unpredictable Leonard (Rickman), an international literary legend. But as Leonard deems some students more promising than others, tensions arise. Sex is used as a weapon, alliances are made and broken, and it's not just the wordplay that turns vicious...
The design team features David Zinn (Set and costume), Ben Stanton (lighting) and John Gromada (sound).
Seminar is being produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Finn, Jill Furman, John N. Hart Jr., Patrick Milling Smith and Roy Furman.
