Secrets of the Trade announces cast
Primary Stages, in association with Ted Snowdon, launches its 26th season with the New York premiere of Secrets of the Trade by Jonathan Tolins, directed by Matt Shakman. The drama opens at 59E59's Theater A on 10 Aug 2010, following previews from 27 Jul and runs through to 4 Sep 2010.
John Glover as 'Martin Kerner' and Noah Robbins as 'Andrew Lipman' lead a cast of five that includes Amy Aquino as 'Joanne Lipman,' Bill Brochtrup as 'Bradley' and Mark Nelson as 'Peter Lipman.'
John Glover's Broadway credits include 'Waiting for Godot' (Tony Nomination), 'The Drowsy Chaperone,' 'Tartuffe' and ''Love! Valour! Compassion!' for which he won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He is known to fans of the TV series "Smallville" for playing the role of 'Lionel Luthor.'
New-comer Noah Robbins made his Broadway debut in last year's revival of 'Brighton Beach Memoirs,' for which he received critical acclaim and for which he received an Outer Critics Circle nomination.
Secrets of the Trade: In show business, it's all about who you know. Or is it? Andy Lipman (Noah Robbins), a smart, ambitious kid from Long Island, dreams of a career on Broadway and hopes that his idol, theater legend Martin Kerner (John Glover), can give it to him. Will Kerner open Andy's door to success, or will their complicated relationship force him to question a life in the theater?
The creative team includes Mark Worthington (Set), Mike Durst (Lights) and John Gromada (Sound).
Secrets of the Trade received its world premiere in 2008 at the Black Dahlia Theatre in Los Angeles directed by Matt Shakman and featured Amy Aquino, Bill Brochtrup and John Glover and received the 2009 GLAAD Award for Best New Play and was named by The L.A. Times as one of the "10 Best '08."
