They're too good, at least! Additional casting has been set for the upcoming Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, joining the previously announced Josh Groban as Sweeney Todd and Annaleigh Ashford as Mrs. Lovett.
Newly announced cast members include Hamilton's Jordan Fisher as Anthony, Stranger Things's Gaten Matarazzo as Tobias, Tony Award winner Ruthie Ann Miles as Beggar Woman, Maria Bilbao as Johanna, Jamie Jackson as Judge Turpin, John Rapson as Beadle Bamford, and Nicholas Christopher as Pirelli. Christopher is also the standby for Sweeney Todd, and Jeanna de Waal is the standby for Mrs. Lovett and Beggar Woman.
Sweeney Todd's creative team is led by director Thomas Kail, music supervisor Alex Lacamoire, and choreographer Steven Hoggett. The production also features set design by Mimi Lien, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Natasha Katz, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.
Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd centers on Todd, a barber, and Lovett, a meat pie shop owner, who team up on a murderous revenge plot in London. This revival, the third since the musical's Tony-winning 1979 premiere, will feature Jonathan Tunick's full 26-piece orchestrations of Sondheim's classic score.
Performances begin at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on February 26 ahead of a March 26 opening night.
