Retzach at 59E59's Theater B

Crooked Timber Productions in association with VOICETheatre presents Retzach, by Hanoch Levin in a new translation by Liat Glick, Shauna Kanter and Tzahi Moshkovitz, playing at 59E59's Theater B from the 9 Feb - 12 Mar 2006.

Retzach portrays the dark forces that drive the escalation of human conflict. Staged in three acts, the play begins with a fathers grisly discovery of the death of his child at the hands of three young soldiers amidst the chaos of war. This, in turn, ignites successive acts of vengeance leading to a senseless cycle of brutality. This poetic allegory uses puppetery, dance and original music to put a human face on the players who commit acts of violence, as well as illuminate the causes that turn victims into victimizers.

Retzach's cast, directed by Shauna Kanter, features: Gili Getz, Christel Halliburton, Sarah Imes, Amy Kovalchick, Simon MacLean, Joe Mancuso, Stephen Medwid, Tony Naumovski, Chris Paolucci, Raj Pannu, Andrew Russell, Emily Shapiro, Hadar Shemesh, Jelena Stupljanin, Arley Tapirian and Morteza Tavakoli.

The production has set design by Casey Smith, costumes by Amelia Dombrowski, puppets by Serra Hirsch, lighting by Graham Kindred and sound by John T. La Barbera.
