Republic of Dreams plays at La MaMa E.T.C.

La MaMa E.T.C. presents the Double Edge Theatre's Republic of Dreams, based on an idea conceived by Stacy Klein and co-created by Carlos Uriona & Matthew Glassman, at La MaMa E.T.C' Annex from 8 - 18 Mar 2007.

Directed by Stacy Klein, Republic of Dreams takes from the magic realism writings and imaginings of WWII-era Polish-Jewish artist Bruno Schulz (1892-1942), and adapts his lush, magical and sometimes erotic drawings to the stage. Using the theatres signature style of physicality, imagery, puppetry, live instrumental and choral music, the work deeply explores Schulz powerful prose and life, as well as his banal death at the hands of a jealous Nazi.
