Rapunzel at the New Victory Theater

The New Victory Theater presents Kneehigh Theatres Rapunzel by Annie Siddons, at the New Victory Theater from 7 - 23 Mar 2008.

Rapunzel is a loveable heroine who bravely takes on deceitful and dangerous characters - not to mention a way-overprotective mother - in her quest for true and lasting love. She is a progressive Rapunzel who ignores notions of conventional beauty and conformist thinking. With long dark dreadlocks instead of flowing blond tresses, shes an independent thinker with sass and wit who makes her own choices rather than having them made for her.

With physical theater, puppetry, comedy, animation and live music, playwright Kneehigh creates a special folktale of loveable rogues, magic pigs, evil brothers, and of course, enduring love, all set in an Italian landscape.

Directed by Emma Rice, Rapunzel features Paul Hunter (Umberto and Pierluigi Ambrosi), Pieter Lawman (Patrizio), Mike Shepherd (Mother Gothel and Paulo), Edith Tankus (Rapunzel), James Traherne (The Duke of Tuscany and Shark Fantini), Kirsty Woodward (Prezzemolina) and Alex Vann (Musician).

The creative team comprises Michael Vale (sets and costumes), Alex Wardle (lighting) and Dom Bilkey(sound).
