'Ragtime' names additional Broadway cast

Find out who will join stars Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, and Brandon Uranowitz in the latest revival of the four-time Tony Award-winning historical musical.

Additional casting has been set for the latest revival of Ragtime on Broadway, produced by Lincoln Center Theater at its Vivian Beaumont Theater. Performances begin September 26 ahead of an October 16 opening.

Joining the previously announced Joshua Henry as Coalhouse Walker Jr., Caissie Levy as Mother, and Tony Award winner Brandon Uranowitz as Tateh are Colin Donnell as Father, Ben Levi Ross as Younger Brother, Shaina Taub as Emma Goldman, Nichelle Lewis as Sarah, John Clay III as Booker T. Washington, and Rodd Cyrus as Harry Houdini.

The ensemble includes Nicholas Barrón, Briana Carlson-Goodman, Billy Cohen, Rheaume Crenshaw, Ta’Nika Gibson, David Jennings, Marina Kondo, Morgan Marcell, Tom Nelis, Kent Overshown, John Rapson, Deandre Sevon, Jacob Keith Watson, Alan Wiggins, and Charity Angél Dawson.

Nine more cast members have yet to be announced.

This Ragtime production transfers to Broadway after premiering as a limited-run concert staging at New York City Center in fall 2024. All but Dawson are reprising their roles from that run.

Through the stories of both invented characters and real historical figures, Ragtime, based on E. L. Doctorow's 1975 novel, depicts how Black New Yorkers, upper-class whites, and Eastern European immigrants all chased the same American dream in early-20th-century America. LCT artistic director Lear deBessonet, who staged the New York City Center run, returns to direct the show for Broadway.

Ragtime also features choreography by Ellenore Scott, sets by David Korins, costumes by Linda Cho, lighting by Adam Honoré, sound by Kai Harada, projections by 59 Productions, hair and wigs by Tom Watson, music director and conductor James Moore, orchestrator William David Brohn, and vocal arranger Stephen Flaherty.

Ragtime premiered on Broadway in 1998, winning four Tony Awards including Best Book of a Musical (for book writer Terrence McNally) and Best Original Score (for composer Stephen Flaherty and lyricist Lynn Ahrens).
