Get Ragtime tickets when they go on sale on New York Theatre Guide to experience the Tony Award-winning masterpiece, now revived at Lincoln Center Theater. Ragtime the musical stars an ensemble cast of Broadway veterans: Tony nominee Joshua Henry, Olivier nominee Cassie Levy, Tony winner Brandon Uranowitz, and Tony winner Shaina Taub, amongst others. An epic story, Ragtime follows three families at the start of the 1900s: the talented Black ragtime pianist Coalhouse Walker, Jr., Jewish artist and immigrant Tateh, and a wealthy white family led by a matriarch whose husband is away at sea.
Experience Ragtime on Broadway to see a singularly American musical that features show-stopping numbers including "Wheels of a Dream," "Make Them Hear You," and "New Music." The original Broadway production made stars of performers Audra McDonald, Lea Michele, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and others, and now the production returns to New York, directed by Tony Award nominee Lear deBessonet (Into the Woods, Once Upon a Mattress) as the premiere production of her inaugural season as Lincoln Center Theater's new artistic director.
“Ragtime feels like the perfect way to begin my tenure as Artistic Director of this very sacred place,” said deBessonet in a statement. “As we celebrate the legacy of LCT and the level of art that has been achieved over the last four decades, it is important for us to continue to be inspired by the sublime possibilities of theater through stories that demand to be told. Such a story is Ragtime.”
Featuring a dynamic score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, a riveting book by Terrence McNally, and original orchestrations by William David Brohn, all of whom won Tony Awards for their work, Ragtime weaves fictional narratives with real historical figures and events, creating a rich tapestry of national identity.
